A man who drove on bare rims at 140km/h and narrowly missed police cars during a dramatic high-speed chase later told police his actions had been idiotic.
Damon Clarke's attempt to flee from police came to an end when his car gave out at Whangamata and he was arrested.
Clarke, 35, of Whangamata, pleaded guilty in Tauranga District Court to

possession of cannabis, possession of a pipe for smoking cannabis and
unlawful possession of a stun gun. He will be sentenced on April 24.
